Description
This is a Type 24 pillbox built in 1940 as part of the anti-invasion defences of the Hoo Stop Line. It has an irregular hexagon shape and is constructed from reinforced concrete with yellow stock brick shuttering. The pillbox features thick walls and is notable for having no brickwork above the five recessed light machine gun embrasures, a characteristic unique to this section of the GHQ Line, likely due to the work of a specific contractor. The longer rear wall includes a low entrance flanked by two additional loopholes. Inside, there is a concrete, Y-shaped, anti-ricochet wall at the centre of the pillbox.
