Description
Nos 9, 10, and 11 New Road are three houses built around 1840, originally designed as one large house and one pair of smaller houses. Each house has three storeys, with No 9 featuring three bays, while Nos 10 and 11 each have two bays. The buildings are constructed of gault brick in Flemish bond with painted plaster details and slate roofs.
No 9 includes a two-storey canted bay window, one single window, and three second-floor windows, all of which are plate glass sashes with plaster architrave surrounds. The doorcase is missing, and the house has a projecting dentil cornice band and a coped parapet.
Nos 10 and 11 have a ground floor tripartite window, along with two first-floor and two second-floor four-pane plate glass sashes set in Italianate surrounds. They feature arched doors and a ground floor Tuscan Doric verandah supported by two columns, with an additional single intermediate column, a cornice, and a balustraded parapet. There is a plat band at the first floor and an eaves parapet string course. A central party wall stack is present.
