Description
Snodhurst Farmhouse and the attached former outbuildings, now a house, date from the 17th century for the northern range and were altered in the early 19th century. The farmhouse features header bond brickwork, is rendered at the front, has brick exterior gable stacks, and a tiled roof. It has a two-room plan with an L-shaped outbuilding on the left.
The exterior of the farmhouse includes a plinth and painted quoins, a left-of-centre doorway with a six-panel mid-19th century door and flat canopy, and 8/8-pane sash windows with thin bars, with the middle window positioned to the left of the door. There are also two hipped dormers, and the rear has a single small stair light.
Inside, the farmhouse has a lobby leading to a central mid-19th century dogleg staircase with turned balusters, a column newel, and a moulded rail. There is a large, partly blocked fireplace on the left, moulded cornices on the first floor, and the cellar has been filled in. A first-floor doorway at the front leads to the former hay loft.
The attached former outbuildings from the 18th century are constructed of brick with a weather-boarded front on the left-hand wing and first floor. They feature a cambered doorway in the right-hand section and mid-20th century windows. The hipped roof extends down to a left-hand catslide over a lean-to. The attached outbuildings are new additions to the listing.
