Description
West Mill House is an early 19th-century substantial detached house located on Carisbrooke Road, set back from the road in a large garden. The house is two storeys high and constructed of gault brick. It features a steep hipped slate roof, with the eaves concealed by a raised brick parapet that has stone coping. There is a header cornice and a frieze made of projecting paired headers. The front facade has three recessed sash windows, with the center window being smaller, all featuring glazing bars, block sills, and flat brick arches. The doorway is centered within a shallow recessed arched panel and consists of a recessed door with six fielded panels, two of which are glazed. The doorcase is made of reeded wood and has small consoles that support a plain cornice. On the northwest and southeast sides of the house, there are two additional windows, recessed and similar to those on the front, set within slightly projecting bays.
