Description
The Church of All Saints is a large church built between 1867 and 1872, with a spire added in 1881 and 1882. Designed by architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, it is constructed in an ornate Second Pointed style using stone rubble with ashlar dressings. The church features a prominent northeast steeple, which is a notable landmark in views of Ryde from the sea. Inside, there are six bay pointed arcades with naturalistic capitals, and the chancel walls are painted by Clayton and Bell. An apsed vestry was added by C Pemberton Leach in 1891. The church also contains an ornate alabaster font and an alabaster and marble pulpit, created around 1870 by Scott.
