Description
33 and 34 John Street are a pair of semi-detached houses built around 1840. They are two stories tall and each has three windows. The houses are finished in stucco. Each house features a projecting center with long and short quoins, a cornice, and a pediment, flanked by two recessed wings. The outer wings have quoins and an eaves cornice, while the inner wings have a balustraded parapet. The center portions have triple windows on the ground floor, although No 33 has a modern bay window added. Above, there are four-light windows with pilasters, a projecting cornice, and an iron balcony. The windows in the outer wings are framed with architrave surrounds. The inner wings have narrow round-headed windows with pilasters and architraves above on the first floor, and below, doorways are flanked by pilasters with a joint entablature. Nos 31 to 34 form a group.
