Description

Two semi-detached houses, numbers 6 and 7 John Street, were built around 1830. They are similar in design to numbers 4 and 5 on the street, although with subsequent alterations and additions. Number 7 has a rough-cast exterior finish. Both houses feature blind, round-headed windows on the first floor and on the adjacent sides of the main block. Number 6 has a glazed gabled porch-cum-conservatory. Both properties have rectangular bay windows added to their first floors, facing east and west respectively. These windows are tripartite, featuring three lights with intact glazing bars, and small iron balconies supported by brackets on the side lights. Number 7 also has a slightly projecting square wing to the northwest, featuring a similar bay window with a panelled apron. Numbers 2 through 7 form a notable group.
