Description

Garfield House, also known as the YMCA, dates from around 1830 to 1840. This three-storey building with a basement is faced with stucco. It features pilasters on either side and in the center of the front, with plain lower sections and fluted upper portions that have leaf capitals. There is a string course above the ground floor. The roof is a low-pitched hipped slate design with an eaves cornice. The building has four recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars and block sills. On the ground floor, there is a later wooden verandah with a glass roof.
