Description
37 and 38 Crocker Street are two-storey buildings dating from the 18th to 19th century, constructed of chequer brick with red brick dressings. They feature a gable end slate roof, with No 37 having a wooden eaves cornice and a flat-roofed dormer with glazing bars. Each house has one sash window with glazing bars, moulded flush wood frames, flat rubbed brick arches, and block sills. The ground floor of No 37 includes a small bow window with glazing bars, a central strip, and thin Doric pilasters on the wall, along with a plain frieze and a cornice-hood supported by brackets. Both houses have recessed doors with four fielded panels, framed by doorcases with thin fluted Doric pilasters and bracketed broken pediments. The detailing on No 38 is of a higher standard. Nos 37 to 39 form a group.
