Description
The Town Hall, dated 1869, is designed in a Neo-Classical style. It is currently rendered and features a slate roof. The building is asymmetrical, with two storeys and seven windows. The right-hand three bays are at a higher elevation and include a pediment adorned with the Prince of Wales feathers and the motto "Town Hall 1869." There are six engaged fluted giant columns, with the end columns coupled. The three windows in this section have six panes, with the central window featuring a triangular pediment and the end windows being curved.
On the ground floor, there is a pedimented doorcase supported by console brackets, leading to double panelled doors. Above the door is a tented canopy with wooden fretwork and four cast iron console brackets. The central bay has a ramped parapet and a dentil cornice. Above the pedimented door, there are two closely spaced sashes, along with a semi-circular fanlight and keystone. The left-hand three bays feature an open pediment with an oculus and four coupled fluted giant pilasters. The first floor has two segmental-headed windows, while the ground floor has two round-headed windows.
