Description
This is a water hydrant located adjacent to Bywell in Whitwell, dating from 1887. It is made of cast iron and stands about 3 feet high. The hydrant features a fluted column on a moulded base, topped with a domed fluted cap that has an acorn finial. Below the cap is a lion's head mask, and there is a knob on the left-hand side. This hydrant is part of a series of water hydrants in Whitwell.
