Description

Down Court Farm is a house, originally a farmhouse, dating back to approximately 1721, with later restoration in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of Isle of Wight stone rubble, with a renewed tiled roof and a brick chimney stack. It is a four-bay lobby entrance house of two storeys and attics, featuring four windows. There are four 20th-century hipped dormers. The windows are 20th-century casements with leaded lights, set within original surrounds and cambered on the ground floor. A central stone porch with a hipped tiled roof is located at the front. A plinth runs along the base of the building. The right-side elevation contains windows with keystones. The interior features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and an open fireplace with a large chamfered wooden bressumer and a spice cupboard. The parlour chimney also has a wooden bressumer. The property is an original Domesday Manor.
