Description
Ye Olde Shoppe and Cottage adjoining is a cottage and shop located in Brighstone. The cottage, dated 1743, features the initials T L H and is constructed of coursed clunch with red brick dressings. It has a thatched roof with end brick chimneystacks and includes two 19th-century casement windows. The doorcase is simple, leading to a plank door. Ye Olde Shoppe, an early 19th-century former outbuilding, is also built of coursed clunch and has a tiled roof. It is a single storey with one 19th-century three-light casement window that has cambered brick head linings. On the left side, there is a 19th-century porch with bargeboards, carved brackets, and a slate roof, featuring a half-glazed door to the left. Attached to the left is a single-storey mid-19th-century extension made of stone rubble with white brick dressings and a slate roof, which includes one triple 19th-century casement window with a cambered head lining.
