Description
The carriage arch and lodges at The Royal Entrance, located on York Avenue in East Cowes, date from around 1845 and are likely the work of Thomas Cubitt. The structure features a cement-rendered square gateway with both long and short quoins, a modillion cornice, and a parapet. The round-headed rusticated carriage arch is adorned with royal cartouches in the spandrels. Flanking the gateway are single-storey lodges, each with two round-headed windows, quoins, a modillion cornice, and a parapet above. The windows retain their glazing bars and have dripstones supported by corbel brackets.
