Description
58 and 59 Union Street are two houses built around 1830 to 1840. They are three storeys tall and have a stucco exterior. Each house features pilasters that run from the first to the second floor, a modillion cornice, and a parapet with caps above the pilasters. Number 58 has one window, while number 59 has two. On the second floor, number 58 has a tripartite window with recessed sash glazing bars that are intact, and a moulded sill. Number 59 has block sills. The first floor of number 58 has a modern glazed window, whereas number 59 features a flat fronted bow window with three lights, which are sash without glazing bars. It also has Doric pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice that slightly projects forward, along with a block sill and shallow apron. The ground floor has modern shops. The Royal Victoria Arcade and numbers 58 to 62 form a group.
