Description
Pitts Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage, extended in the later 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble from the Isle of Wight, with red brick dressings. The cottage has a thatched roof and end chimney stacks made of brick. It has one and a half storeys and three windows. The windows are mainly 19th-century casements, with a 20th-century French window in the centre. A rear outshut has been added. Inside, there is an 18th-century open fireplace with a bread oven. Historical records show the cottage was leased in 1745 by Sir John Barrington to George Norbury, to one Bucklar in 1764, and in 1800 to James Attrill for a lease of 99 years.
