Description

Ashengrove is an 18th-century farmhouse, originally the home farm for Swainston Manor. The building is constructed of stone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof with end chimney stacks made of white brick. It is two storeys high with an attic in one gable end, and has three windows facing the front. The gables have kneelers, a paired bracket eaves cornice, and a stone string course. The windows have stone architraves. The first floor has a central six-pane sash window flanked by triple sash windows. The ground floor has 20th-century casement windows. The central doorway features six fielded panels, with the top two panels glazed. A catslide roof extends to the rear of the building. Attached to the rear right-hand side is a single-storey former brewhouse and dairy, built of stone rubble and with a slate roof.
