Description
Nos 148 to 152 on High Street is a block of three houses built around 1850. The buildings are three storeys high and constructed of ashlar, with some areas painted. Above the ground floor, there is an entablature that features Doric pilasters on either side of the upper floors, with additional pilasters at the ends. The design includes a deep frieze, cornice, and a blocking course with a raised panel in the center. Each house has one window on the second floor, which features tripartite sashes with block consoles supporting the sills.
On the first floor, there are pilastered canted wooden bay windows. The ground floor is defined by broad pilasters, with the canted bay of No 148 extending downwards. This bay features a canted shop window flanked by doors that have diamond-patterned, marginal, glazed rectangular fanlights. No 152 has two canted bay windows on either side of a central door. The return front of No 152 has two windows, most of which are blind, and is also articulated by similar pilasters, along with a pilastered doorway topped with an entablature.
