Description

This is a terrace of houses, built around 1840. The buildings were originally intended as dwellings but have since been converted into flats. They are constructed of stucco over brick, with the roofs and chimney stacks hidden behind a parapet. The terrace consists of single-fronted houses, with No.16 adjoining No.15 Waterloo Street. The terrace is interrupted between Nos. 21 and 22 by the Waterloo Arch. The terrace has four storeys over a basement, with a one-bay and one-bay arrangement. Most of the houses feature full-height canted bays. The entrance is in the bay adjoining a small sash window, which primarily has one vertical glazing bar. Cast-iron balconies are present on most first-floor windows. The ground floors are rusticated, and the entrances are marked by pilaster doorcases, rectangular fanlights, and a variety of 20th-century doors. Cast-iron railings run along the street frontage from the entrances.
