Description

This is a row of four terraced houses, built around 1832 on the west side of Borough Street in Brighton. The houses are constructed of stucco, originally scored to resemble ashlar, with a Welsh slate roof on number 20 and late 20th-century tiles on the remainder. They are two storeys high, with a one-window frontage to each house, except number 20, which features an additional bull's-eye window on the first floor. Each house has a flat-arched entrance, lacking its original details. A segmental bay extends two floors upwards, containing two sash windows on each floor, divided by a broad central mullion. Number 22 potentially retains its original glazing bars, while the others have been replaced in accordance with the original designs. The houses have deep, boxed eaves and two stack chimneys located between numbers 20 and 21, and between numbers 22 and 23. The interiors have not been inspected.
