Description
These are two early 19th-century terraced houses, now incorporating a shop and connected to number 3. They are built of stucco, with a roof of Welsh slate covered in asphalt. The houses are three stories high with a basement and attic, and each has one window. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with steps leading to a panelled door on the right side. The upper floors feature full-height segmental bays with tripartite sash windows of original design. A parapet runs around the bays, and there is a shared chimney stack between the two houses. The rear elevation has a single window with sash windows of original design.
Inside, each house originally featured a straight-flight staircase against the outside wall, with columnar newels, stick balusters, and a closed string. In number 4, the staircase is missing between the ground and first floors, and the balusters are missing between the second floor and the attic. Wide floorboards remain in the second floors and attics.
