Description

A terrace of ten dwellings was built around 1830-40, designed by C.A. Busby. The buildings are constructed of stucco over brick, with the roofs hidden behind a parapet. The terrace adjoins numbers 25-31 Lansdowne Place to the south. Each house has three storeys over a basement and features a bow-fronted facade with two windows. The windows are sash windows with a mix of glazing patterns. A moulded cornice runs along the top, and the first-floor windows have moulded surrounds, some with individual cast-iron balconies, while others have continuous cast-iron balconies around each bay. Doric pilaster porches provide entry, and recessed, square-headed doorways are topped with fanlights, with a variety of doors. Number 55 was originally part of numbers 48-59 Western Road and is not included within the listing.
