Description
Numbers 3 and 4 are terraced houses located on Pavilion Parade in Brighton, dating from around 1800. The exterior features painted cobbles with painted brick dressings. Number 3 has a roof obscured by a parapet, while Number 4 has a turnerised roof. Number 3 consists of four storeys over a basement, and Number 4 has four storeys and an attic over a basement, both with a two-window range. All windows are flat-arched with brick dressings.
There are steps leading up to a round-arched entrance, which is framed by engaged Doric columns that support an open segmental pediment. Number 4 retains a fanlight and a door of original design. A full-height and almost full-width segmental bay is present, along with a bracketed balcony on the first floor that features a cast-iron balustrade. Number 3 has blind-boxes on the ground and first-floor windows, while all windows on Number 4 have sashes of original design, with 6 x 6 panes on the ground and first floors and 3 x 6 panes on the second and third floors. The houses also feature a cornice and parapet, with a flat-arched dormer in the mansard roof of Number 4, and chimney stacks on the party and side walls.
The interior has not been inspected. The properties are complemented by cast-iron railings at the steps and areas, which have urn finials on the standards and spearhead finials on the rest.
