Description
Numbers 18 and 19 (now combined as a single property) and 20 Prince's Street are late 18th or early 19th century terraced houses, with later 19th century frontages. They are constructed of stucco scored to resemble ashlar, and have a roof obscured by a parapet.
The houses are three storeys high, with a basement, and each originally had two windows. Steps lead up to round-arched entrances; the entrance to Number 18 has been altered to become a window. Number 19 has a doorcase featuring panelled pilasters, brackets, an entablature, an open pediment with a dentil cornice, and a fanlight. Number 20 has a doorcase of engaged Doric columns, an entablature, an open pediment with a dentil cornice, a fanlight, and a panelled door of original design.
All windows are flat-arched, and there are three-storey canted bays with mullions and stepped capitals; the window frames of the former Number 18 have quadrant corners. A parapet runs along the top of Numbers 18 and 19, while Number 20 has a simpler entablature and blocking course. Stacks are present along the party walls. The left-hand return of the former Number 18 is decorated with a pattern of rough and smooth render.
The interior was not inspected during the listing process. Cast-iron railings are present to the steps and area of Number 20. Numbers 19 & 20 were initially listed on 20 August 1971.
