Description
The Statue of George IV, located near the North Gate of the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, was created in 1828 by Sir Francis Chantrey. This nine-foot bronze statue depicts a standing, robed figure and is mounted on a corniced granite pedestal. It was erected through public subscription and is a replica of a statue that stands at the head of the grand staircase in Windsor Castle. Originally, the statue was located in the Steine but was moved to its current position in 1922.
