Description

Number 68 is a terraced house dating from around 1800, located on the east side of Grand Parade in Brighton. The building is constructed of red brick and features red mathematical tiles, with its roof obscured by a parapet. It has four storeys over a half-basement and a two-window range.

There are steps leading up to a round-arched entrance, which is flanked by engaged Doric columns that support an entablature and an open segmental pediment. The entrance includes a fanlight with decorative glazing and a panelled door that retains its original design. To the right of the entrance is a full-height segmental bay, with tripartite windows that have original frames and sashes on the basement, second, and third floors. A bracketed balcony with cast-iron railings is present on the first floor, while the windows above the entrance have cambered arches. The bay features bands of black mathematical tiles below the parapet, and there is an original rainwater head and a stack on the party wall.

The interior has not been inspected, but there are cast-iron railings leading to the steps and area.
