Description
Cavendish is a detached house located on The Green in Rottingdean, likely built in the 18th century and refaced in the 19th century. The exterior is finished in stucco with a tiled roof. The house has two storeys and features four windows. To the north, there is a range with a two-span roof, which may have been refronted in stucco around 1800. The building has long and short quoins, a central flat-arched entrance with an overlight, and all windows are flat-arched. The ground floor windows have 8/8 sashes, while the first-floor windows have 4/8 sashes, except for the window above the front entrance, which has a 3/6 sash. There is a storey band, stuccoed and corniced stacks, and a gabled wing to the south that includes a single-storey bay on the ground floor and a flat-arched window with a hoodmould on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected. The rendered range extending westwards in Olde Place Mews is not of special interest.
