Description

These are a group of four terraced houses dating from around 1815. They are located on Queen's Place in Brighton. The exterior is characterised by tarred cobbles with painted brick dressings and a slate roof. The houses are two storeys high and each has a single window. All entrances and windows are topped by segmental arches with brick detailing. The facades feature brick long-and-short quoins, marking the division between each pair of houses. A brick dentil cornice runs along the top, and the eaves have gutters. Chimneys are visible only between numbers 5 and 6 and between numbers 6 and 7. The interiors have not been inspected. According to Carder’s ‘The Encyclopaedia of Brighton’, this is a notable example of early 19th-century architecture.
