Description

The Trophy Gates, located in Hampton Court, were erected in 1701 and sculpted by John Oliver. The gates feature four brick piers with red dressings, along with Portland stone bases, cornices, and consoles. The two central piers are larger and support lead figures of a lion and a unicorn. The outer, lower piers display armorial assemblages in lead. The wrought-iron gates, adorned with floral and leaf motifs, are likely of Victorian origin. The arms were modified during the reign of George II.
