Description
Sudbrook Park, now the Richmond Golf Club, was designed by James Gibbs in 1726. The building features brick construction with stone dressings and consists of nine bays across two storeys plus a basement. It has long, slender segmental headed windows with aprons and brick quoins, topped with a parapet. A central giant portico with Corinthian columns is present on both the garden and entrance facades, although the entrance facade has been extended forward. There is a staircase leading to the garden side. Inside, the building boasts an elaborately decorated cube room with giant coupled pilasters, a coved ceiling, and a marble fireplace, all designed by Gibbs.
