Description

Box Cottage, also known as The Red House, is a late 17th or early 18th century building. It has four window bays and two storeys, constructed of plum brick with red dressings. It features a double-pitched slated roof and gable windows, with chimney breasts built into the gable walls. The doorcase is topped by a pediment supported on carved consoles. The windows are square-headed, with sash windows retaining their original glazing bars. Brick bands are visible between the storeys and below the parapet. A possible later 18th century brick parapet completes the facade.
