Description
Avenue Lodge Farm Lodge consists of two original lodges to Petersham Park, located opposite the Avenue to Ham House. These are a pair of two-storey cottages that face each other across a small garden, with a screen wall behind them. They date from the 17th century, although there has been some later rebuilding. Avenue Lodge (No 190) is constructed of 17th-century plum brick and features a band at the first-floor level. Farm Lodge has been refaced in either the 18th or 19th century with yellow brick and lacks the band course. Each cottage is three bays wide, with a central doorway that has 19th-century hoods. The shaped gables facing the road are similar to those on the facades of the lodges leading to Ham House from Ham Common, specifically Avenue Cottage and Avenue Lodge Cottage. Additionally, Farm Lodge has been extended by one bay behind the screen wall.
