Description
The George Public House, located at 32 King Street, along with 34 and 36 King Street, is a late 17th-century, two-storey building originally faced in brick. It features tiled double-pitched roofs and a modillion eaves cornice, although there have been later alterations. The George Public House has a modern pub front on the ground floor, with two three-window, canted bays above, and to the right, a single window over a carriageway. The roof is adorned with three gabled dormers.
Number 34 has a modern shop front on the ground floor, with two flush-framed sash windows on the first floor and one gabled dormer in the roof. The eaves cornice here has been simplified.
Number 36 features a mid-19th-century stuccoed front with a ground floor shop front that returns onto Queen's Road. The first floor has two windows, including one on the rounded corner, both with stucco architraves and a bracketed cornice. The original eaves cornice has been replaced with a stucco modillion cornice, which includes a panelled parapet and a dormer.
