Description
Hedley House and Mill Hill Lodge is a cottage that was formerly two cottages, dating from the mid-18th century with an extension added around 1800. The building is weatherboarded, with fillets on the earlier right-hand wing, and features some brickwork. It has a low-pitched hipped roof that extends to the eaves. The structure is two storeys tall, plus a basement.
To the right, there is a slightly projecting two-bay wing, and to the left, a two-bay wing at right angles. The entrance is located in the left bay of the right wing and is covered by a tented canopy. Each wing has a 19th-century bay window on the ground floor, and the windows are square-headed. The right wing has vertical sliding sashes, while the left wing features horizontal sliding sashes with plate glass. There is a brick range on the extreme left side of the building, and the rear elevation is also weatherboarded. Inside, there are surviving features such as some panelling and planked doors with 'L' shaped hinges.
