Description

Museum Number 1, located in the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, was designed by Decimus Burton and built between 1856 and 1857. This three-storey building features eleven bays, with the outer pairs of bays set forward. It is constructed of yellow stock brick, with a stucco ground storey that has banded rustication. The building is adorned with stucco mouldings and cornices around the windows. A central entrance porch supported by Tuscan columns adds to its architectural appeal. The roof is covered with slate and includes a modillion frieze.
