Description

No. 61 Arthur Road is a detached house built in 1888, designed by Hill Bros of Streatham. The house features red brick with some stucco dressings and has a steeply pitched tiled roof that extends to the eaves. It is two storeys tall, plus a roof storey, and has an irregular layout. The front has two main bays with recessed cross-wings on either side. There are two unequal gables facing the road, with the larger one on the right, separated by chimney stacks.

To the left of the centre, there is a projecting porch with a flat segmental moulded entrance arch made of rubbed brick. To the right of the porch, there is a square-headed mullioned window, and some tile hanging is present. Above the porch, there is a pair of flush framed casement windows with round-headed lights and thick glazing bars. The upper windows are mainly casements, with timber mullions and transoms, typically featuring five lights and glazing bars. Brick bands run between the storeys, and there is a diagonally set buttress on the left bay. The house has tall chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
