Description
Mid-terrace single-storey with attic stone house, built c.1830, rectangular on plan facing west, built as part of a terrace of 23 similar houses. Pitched natural slate roof with clay ridge tiles, single gabled dormer and a single replacement redbrick chimneystack with terracotta pots shared with adjoining house No.3 (HB19/05/050A). Cast-iron gutter on iron brackets. Galletted rubble basalt walling with redbrick surrounds to window and door openings, granite hood mouldings and sill. Original iron lattice casement windows. East front elevation with a single window opening and a door opening. Top and side hung lattice windows . Timber sheeted door with cast-iron ironmongery. South side elevation abutted by No.7 (HB19/05/050C) with shared passageway giving access to rear. Passageway is fronted by voussoired granite/sandstone arch to street with part of original granite hood moulding, concrete paved to passageway and rendered brick south wall to house. Rear west elevation abutted by two-storey extension. North side elevation is abutted by No.3 Arthur Street (HB19/05/050A).
