Description
The Mauvillain tomb, located in the churchyard 10 yards south of the west tower of the Church of St Lawrence, is a Grade II listed structure. It commemorates Stephen Mauvillain, who died in 1740. The tomb is made of Portland stone and features a spherical triangle shape with buttressed corners. Its sides are panelled and inscribed, and it has a moulded base and cornice. At the top, there is an elaborate moulded ogee finial that supports a bulbous three-cornered urn. Additionally, there is a cartouche with a crest located at the eastern corner of the tomb.
