Description
6, 8 and 8A Church Street is a building dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It was originally a public house and was divided into three shops in the later 19th century. The structure has two storeys and is three bays wide. It features a timber frame with a jettied upper floor. The ground floor has modern shop fronts, while the two left-hand bays have square-headed sash windows. There is also a modern oriel window. The upper floors were rendered in the 19th century. Number 6 includes some 20th-century false timbering and a modern oriel bay window. The building has a tiled roof with a chimney stack located between Nos. 6 and 8.
