Description
14 and 16 Church Street is an early to mid 19th century building that has been altered. It stands three storeys high with a five-bay north front, where the three central bays are bowed forward. The ground floor is finished in rusticated stucco with some vermiculation, featuring a modern shop window in the central bays. The first floor is faced with grey brick and has stucco window dressings. The windows are adorned with moulded architraves, and the three central windows also include a frieze and cornice, with the central window being pedimented and supported by console brackets. There is a stucco main cornice, and a later stuccoed attic above. The ground floor has channelled stucco and a modern shop window on the west return. The first floor features a brick-faced triple window with stucco pilasters, an architrave, a frieze, and a cornice with console brackets. The main cornice and attic extend from the front of the building. This structure holds an important position in the townscape.
