Description
Beaufort House and Chatham House are an early 18th-century pair of houses located on The Butts in Brentford. They are constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and feature two stories plus an attic. The front of the houses has four double-hung sash windows set in flush surrounds with cills and rubbed flat arches. There is a brick band above the ground floor, and the eaves are adorned with a modillion cornice. The hipped roof is covered with tiles and includes two dormers.
Chatham House (No 15) has a four-panel door with a traceried fan, while Beaufort House (No 17) retains its original door surround, complete with an architrave, consoles, a carved frieze, and a modillion cornice. There is also a good wrought iron gate with a lampholder and a wall. Inside, the original staircase remains intact. The buildings have been converted into three flats. All the listed buildings in The Butts are considered to form a group.
