Description
6 and 8 Church Street is a building that likely dates from the early 18th century, with mid-19th century stucco rendering. It stands two storeys high and features three 19th century sash windows with architraves, the first-floor windows adorned with cornices. The building has a heavy cornice at the parapet and a central porch supported by Doric columns, which also has a cornice and blocking course. The roof is square and hipped, covered with slate, and includes three flat-topped dormers. There are two square chimney stacks. The rear elevation is also stuccoed and features two full-height canted bay windows with 19th century sash windows. There is a wooden pillared porch with a pagoda roof and a fret frieze on the entablature, along with a 20th-century attic window on the right.
Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase. The annexe, which was formerly a stable block, has two pairs of windows with semi-circular heads and glazing bars in the lower sashes. The door consists of two sunken panels with bolection mouldings and two plain panels, along with a double stable door. There is a plain frieze and cornice below the parapet.
