Description
Avenue House, also known as Flats 1 to 4, is a mid-18th century building located on the east side of The Green in West Drayton. It is two storeys high with five windows, featuring an old tiled roof and constructed from brown brick with decorative bands and a parapet. The sash windows are topped with gauged flat red brick arches, and there is a bracketed hood over the door. A 19th-century addition is located at the rear.
Part of Avenue House extends into the ground floor of Avenue Cottage, which is a 16th-century building consisting of two bays and a crosswing. Avenue Cottage displays visible timber framing with rendered filling, and traces of a jetty can be seen on the north side. Its old tiled roof includes an east end chimney primarily made of Tudor bricks, although some parts have been renewed. There is one old window featuring diagonal mullions, while the other windows are small modern casements. An early 19th-century doorhood on brackets is also present, and much of the interior reveals exposed timber.
