Description
Fray's Cottage and Old Mill House, dating from the late 18th century, is a notable building located on the north side of Thorney Mill Road in West Drayton. The structure is made of brown brick and stands three storeys high, featuring three double-hung sash windows with sills and yellow brick flat arches. The entrance boasts a tetrastyle Doric porch with arrow pilasters on either side of the three-panel double doors, which are flanked by windows with wood panels beneath. The first floor has a central Palladian French window, complemented by a fine wrought iron balcony railing. The building is topped with a parapet and a hipped Welsh slate roof. The right-hand wing is slightly set back and includes ground floor cambered relieving arches and first-floor round leaded arches. Inside, there is a good oval staircase with a skylight. Fray's Cottage, which is the right-hand wing, has a door that was inserted when it became a separate residence.
