Description
The Red House and The Red Cottage are located on Summerhouse Lane in Harefield. The Red House is an 18th-century building with two storeys and three wide windows. It features a hipped tiled roof and rendered walls. The windows are modern casements with wood mullions and transoms. There is a central six-panel door, which is top glazed, situated under a modern gabled porch. The adjoining Red Cottage dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and also has two storeys, but with two irregular windows. Its walls are plastered and it has a brick dentil cornice and a hipped tiled roof. One of its windows is a sash with glazing bars, while the others are modern. The Red Cottage is included in the listing because it is inseparable from The Red House.
