Description
Franks Farmhouse is a building dating from the 15th to 17th century, located on St Mary's Lane in Upminster. It is two storeys high and features a colourwashed, plastered, timber-framed structure. The south front has two gables, with the left side comprising a projecting wing made of 18th century or modern brick. The right side has an old wide span gable that aligns with the rest of the front. The east front includes a central projecting wing with two smaller gables that are lower than the main part of the house. There is a single storey brick addition across this front, likely from the early 19th century, which has small casement windows with Gothic lights. A plain open porch is situated at the centre. At the rear of the main block, there is a large stack with a cornice top, while the roof of the east range features a stack with two diagonal shafts and two small end stacks on the east gable end of the south front, which has an outside breast. The house has small casement windows throughout. The interior has been much altered but retains crown post roofs, exposed timber-framing, and panelling.
