Description

The Old Vicarage, formerly known as St Margaret's Vicarage and Bramblebury House, dates from around 1765. It is a three-storey building with a sunk basement and features three windows. There are one-storey side wings that have the appearance of early 19th century design. The structure is made of multicoloured stock brick, and the parapet conceals the roof of the main block. The side wings have low pitched, hipped slate roofs behind low parapets, which are topped with ball finials.

The main block has gauged, flat brick arches over replaced sash windows that include glazing bars. The side wings feature round-headed windows set in round arched recesses. The left side wing has an original sash window with glazing bars, while the right side wing has a mid-19th century French door with margin lights. A small modern casement window has been inserted on the right side. The central entrance door consists of six beaded panels and is flanked by sidelights. Above the door is a wide cornice head with a patterned radial fanlight. In front of the door, there is a small stone terrace with wrought-iron area railings.
