Description
The forecourt railings and gates to the National Maritime Museum date from the 19th century. They feature tall, lancehead cast iron railings set on a plinth of Portland stone. Aligned with the Queen's House, there are four square cast iron piers adorned with decorative motifs of roses, thistles, trefoils, and crowns. The piers are topped with wrought-iron ogee caps that hold lamps. The central double gate is made of cast iron and includes wrought iron cresting along with maritime symbols, complemented by single side gates.
