Description

Nos. 7 and 8 West Grove are an early 19th century house of four storeys and a sunk basement, originally with three windows each. No. 7 is constructed of multicoloured stock brick with a parapet concealing the roof, and features a banded, rusticated stucco ground floor. It has renewed sash windows with gauged brick arches in stucco-lined reveals, mostly flat topped, except for a round arched window at the second floor to the right. A projecting section to the right has three storeys and one window, with a heavy stucco cornice at the second floor level. This projection contains a modernised double door with side lights and a segmental fanlight, leading up a flight of five steps. No. 8 is similarly built of multicoloured stock brick with a parapet and has renewed sash windows within stucco-lined reveals. A four-step approach leads to a modernised door within a heavy, prostyle Doric porch. Nos. 7 and 8 are part of a group with Nos. 6 and 2 West Grove.
