Description

These are early 18th-century brick walls forming the outer courtyard to the west and south of Vanbrugh Castle. They are a high, reddish-brown brick and have sloped coping along the north side of the west wall. The west wall features square gate piers that repeat the design motif of battlemented towers and arched corbelling. A battlemented round tower stands at the south end. A later section of red brick extends southward, incorporating a square turret at an angle and a square end pier. The walls have a high plinth and a prominent band.
